RE: The tariff classification of glass microspheres from China and India

Dear Ms. Mahmoud:

In your letter dated June 19, 2012, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Samples of four hollow glass microspheres - CTAH-25, CTAH-32, CTAH-46 and CTAH-60 - were submitted with your inquiry. The samples were forwarded to our Customs and Border Protection Laboratory for analysis. The laboratory has now completed its analysis.

Our Customs laboratory has determined that each of these items consists of glass and measures less than 1 mm in diameter.

The applicable subheading for the glass microspheres (CTAH-25, CTAH-32, CTAH-46 and CTAH-60) will be 7018.20.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for glass microspheres not exceeding 1 mm in diameter. The rate of duty will be 5 percent ad valorem.

Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist Jacob Bunin at (646) 733-3027.

Sincerely,
